🎨 Childhood & Family Roots
Sofokli J. Telo, born on October 10, 1976, was introduced to art at an early age. His world was shaped by the influences of his father, Jorgo S. Telo, a teacher, artist and writer. His upbringing, guided by the love and support of his mother, Kasiani, instilled in him the appreciation for life’s most significant treasures.
At 14, Sofokli entered the art school in Gjirokastra, studying under mentors like S. Çati and D. Topulli. Here he mastered the foundations of oil painting and developed a strong technical base for his artistic journey.
Sofokli opened his own gallery in the heart of Athens and debuted internationally with a 2015 exhibition in New York City. His journey continued with shows in Miami, San Diego, and a move to the U.S. in 2018. Recognized at Art San Diego in 2019, Sofokli now lives between Greece and the U.S., sharing his message through art that heals and uplifts.
Growing up amidst the serene landscapes of Zagori and the enchantment of his father’s artistry, Sofokli’s imagination was nourished by nature and literature. Drawing became his sanctuary. At age 12, with the support of his friend F. Thimjo, he began exploring the beauty of nature through art.
Moving to Athens at 20, Sofokli reconnected with Miri, a sculptor and old schoolmate. Immersed in the local art community and mentored by artists like D. Yeros, he refined his craft and deepened his creative voice through years of exploration.
